Hunterhorn Centre of Therapeutic Massage

Lenita - Registered Massage Therapist

I graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. In addition, I have a Legal Assistant Certificate from SAIT and a General Arts and Science Diploma from Mount Royal University. Prior to becoming a Massage Therapist, I was at home with my two children for a number of years.

I began my massage education in 2008 at MH Vicars School of Massage Therapy in Calgary. I completed the 2200 hour program in 2010 and I am currently registered with the Massage Therapist Association of Alberta (MTAA). While attending MH Vicars, I became extremely interested in Oncology Massage, so in 2009, I attended an Oncology Massage workshop and practicum with Greet the Day in Newport Beach, California. With this certification, I am able to safely treat clients who are currently undergoing, or who have a history of cancer treatments. I am also a member of the Society for Oncology Massage (S4OM).

Since becoming a Massage Therapist, I have completed additional certifications in Myofascial Release and Hot Stone Massage. In 2013, I completed the Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) and Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT) training through the Dr. Vodder School. I completed Basic and Therapy I in Victoria, BC in April and Therapy II & III in Cork, Ireland in November/December 2013. With the completion of the Vodder Training, I am certified to treat Lymphedema and am currently registered with the Alberta Lymphedema Association.

I have maintained a clinical practice since 2009 and joined the Hunterhorn Centre of Therapeutic Massage in June 2010, where I maintain a full-time, 5-6 days a week, schedule. Prior to the Hunterhorn clinic, I worked in a Chiropractic clinic for 10 months.

I have been a long time believer in the benefits of Massage Therapy. I have been receiving massages since I was 18 for relaxation, general health and to stay in peak form during my marathon days!! As a therapist, I absolutely love being able to help people. I am continuously amazed by the effects that Massage Therapy has on the body, mind and spirit. I am rewarded everyday by relieving pain, both acute and chronic; helping people achieve their health and wellness goals; and contributing to the natural wellbeing of each individual.

As a Massage Therapist, I promise to LISTEN to my clients to provide each one with a comprehensive and effective massage treatment based upon their individual situation, goals and lifestyle. I will incorporate the various modalities I have studied and to work with you in order to achieve RESULTS every time you come into the clinic.
